Jacob degrom is a terrific competitor who brings quiet intensity and humility to the mound. He originally was a shortstop at Stetson, and he began pitching during his junior year of College. deGrom’s fastball averages 97 mph, and he also has outstanding control! He often has been the victim of poor run support. His lifetime record is 70-51 with an extremely impressive 2.61 ERA. deGrom had an incredible run of allowing 3 or fewer runs in 30 straight starts! After winning back-to-back Cy Young Awards in 2018 & 2019, deGrom finished 3rd in the balloting in 2020. He went 4-2 with a 2.38 ERA and led the National League in strikeouts. Jacob deGrom deserves all the credit in the world for what he has achieved and it is all the more impressive since he was not a high Draft pick!
