Bill Polian

“We’re not playing fantasy football here.”
Bill Polian, Indianapolis Colts Vice-Chairman

Bill Polian has been at the helm of the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.

He built a Bills team that won four straight AFC Championships.

He took the Carolina Panthers to the NFC Championship Game in their second year of existence. His Indianapolis Colts have made NFL history by going to the playoffs for nine straight years.

Polian is a six-time NFL executive of the year. His son Chris now is the Colts President however Bill is still very active as Vice-Chairman.

I feel that Bill Polian is the best architect in the history of the National Football League.

Polian’s accomplishments with the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers were incredible.

To do what he has done in Indianapolis in this salary cap era, is nothing short of sensational.

Bill Polian paid his dues in the Canadian Football League and the United States Football League before hooking on with the Bills.

I noticed Bill Polain communicating with every Colts player before games while the players are doing pre-game stretching. Barry Krauss who played in the NFL for 13 years told me that none of his General Managers ever did that. The great ones set themselves apart.

The decision to draft Peyton Manning instead of Ryan Leaf was P0lian’s first and most important draft decision in his tenure with the Colts. The Colts, for the most part, have built their teams through the draft.

Winston Churchill said, “History will be kind to me because I intend to write it”   Bill Polian has written “football history.”

And…if Peyton Manning does not play Sunday, yes, his streak will end…However there are 16 regular season games, not one.
